Merak first single from their forthcoming EP Manic Mode.

Merak is an upcoming electronica music duo of siblings Brandon and Belinda Mendes from

Goa, India. Growing up they listened to rock, folk and jazz as early influences. Their music is

inspired by Radiohead, Cinematic Orchestra, Billie Eilish and The Marias to name a few, even

though it sits outside of conventional genres. Their approach is story based: they focus on

storytelling with mood enhancing sound design, poetic lyrics and like to play with different

arrangements and compositions to keep their music engaging. Between the two of them, they

play the guitar, piano and violin and incorporate these organic sounds with electronic

components to complete their unique sound. The most notable achievement since Merak began

in 2018 was their IndiaFilmProject 2020 Platinum (First place) 50 hour song win for the

Electronic Category for "Time travelling Soul". Their prizes included a music video which

premiered on MTV. They also bagged the 2022 Gold award for the same competition. They

released two singles with renowned Indian labels Boxout.recordings and KrunkKulture and a

music video that premiered on VH1 in August 2022.They have been featured by well known

publications such as Rolling Stone India, Wild City, Humming Heart, Rockstreet Journal, Times

of India and Indian Music Diaries to name a few. They have been named by "The Hindu" as 6

new artists to look out for in 2022. Merak has an upcoming EP this February with Boxout

recordings.
